Oh the JOY of cancer. It's 3:45 AM, and we are in the ER. Jace's fever started rising about 9 PM, so we watched it for a while, and at 101.4 we forced ourselves to call his doctor. We really hated waking the good Doc at 1 AM, but when Jace couldn't sleep anymore for his cough and aches, we knew it was the right thing to do. They just took chest x-rays and blood...and he's receiving a bag of fluids and antibiotics. We'll know more in a while.
In the meantime, here we are. Jace was so mad at us for taking his temperature over and over again because he doesn't WANT to be sick, but by the time we arrived at the hospital, he was too tired to fight us. I would cuss fevers except that his fever a year ago helped us find his cancer...so ...technically we should be grateful for the sign that something is wrong. I'm working on my "we are thankful for this fever!" face. This fever helped him get the antibiotic he needs to fight whatever his body is fighting. It's a good thing nobody's going to *see* my "thankful for fevers face" for a few hours, though. I need to perfect the conviction. :)

Poor little guy! I am sure he is getting so sick of this stuff! I cant believe its only been a year or so.
ReplyDeleteIt was so good seeing you over the summer. You have such a good attitude and are such a good example to people! I hope things get better quick for Jace.

I have recently started reading your blog. I don't even remember how I found it. My 3 year old grand daughter was diagnosed with ALL on her mommy's birthday, in May 2010.
ReplyDeleteBefore she was diagnosed, she broke one arm and a few days later broke her opposite leg. Then she had a cyst removed from her neck that was completely unrelated. And it was after that surgery that our lives changed.
She just started her 4th phase of treatment at PCMC. I know we are supposed to thank our Heavenly Father for our trials, but I'm not to that point yet.
I'm impressed with your testimony and your strength. I watched the Emma Smith movie the other day and Emma says; Strength isn't something you have, it's something you find. It looks like you have found it.

We hope he get's feeling better soon. I was showing the boys that Jace had to go to the hospital because he was sick. Axton looked and goes mom that is so bad Jace had to go to the hospital, but look at his cute belly button. And then did this little giggle. It made me smile, hopefully his silly comment will make you guys smile to. Thinking about you!!
ReplyDeleteLove Ya!!
With all you've been through you could completely frown and tell me "I am thankful for fevers" face and I wouldn't think a thing. Way to always be positive Amy!! I hope he gets feeling better!!
